Furusho (b. Queens, NY) is an image maker and sculptor, currently based in Brooklyn. They earned a BFA at Carnegie Mellon University in 2020, and have exhibited their work in several group exhibitions including at Westmoreland Museum of Art, Frame Gallery, and Ace Hotel Pittsburgh.
Their practice uses the linguistic principle that translation is a negotiation between differences to explore forms that imply communal language. Furusho creates weavings, collages, and sculptural objects that act as a mediating party between differences.
Objects of inquiry include Unicode, onomatopoeia, and green screens.
